BetControl is a gambling blocking app designed to help you stay in control. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.
BetControl does not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers. Your data is used solely to provide and improve the service.
By using BetControl, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the app and contact us to delete your account.
We collect only what is necessary to operate the service.

We do not collect browsing history, the specific gambling sites you visit, the names of apps installed on your device, or any content from your VPN traffic. The VPN is used purely to block domains — we cannot read or log your internet traffic.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the BetControl service.
BetControl requests several Android permissions that may seem sensitive. Here is exactly what each one is used for and what it cannot access.

| Accessibility Service | Detects when a gambling app is opened and brings it to the foreground to block it. It does not read the content of other apps, capture text, or record your screen. |
| VPN | Routes your traffic through a local on-device VPN to block gambling websites. All filtering happens on your device. We do not receive, log, or inspect your internet traffic. |
| Device Administrator | Prevents BetControl from being uninstalled while blocking is active, making the block harder to bypass. This is entirely optional. |
| Notifications | Used to alert you when your trial is expiring, or when protection needs to be restored after a device restart. |
| Boot / background start | Allows BetControl to restart blocking automatically after your phone reboots, without requiring you to open the app. |
BetControl uses the following third-party services. We only share the minimum data each service requires to function.

Firebase is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. Paystack is governed by Paystack's Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review both.
We do not use analytics tools, advertising SDKs, or any other third-party data collection services.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data from our systems within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance purposes (such as payment records, which are retained for 7 years as required by applicable law).
Block settings (PIN, duration, activation time) are stored locally on your device only and are never transmitted to our servers. They are deleted automatically when you uninstall the app.

BetControl is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you via the app or by email.
Your continued use of BetControl after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
